How do I check the readability of my writing for free?
Paste the text and this page returns a Flesch Reading Ease score (0–100, higher is easier), a Flesch–Kincaid grade level, and the sentences over 25 words — all computed in your browser with no upload. Aim for 60+ for general web writing.
What is a good Flesch score?
60–70 is plain English suitable for most readers and a good target for the web. Below 30 is hard going, usually because of long sentences and long words. The tool tells you which of your sentences are the culprits.
Is my writing uploaded?
No. Scoring runs locally and nothing is stored; it works offline, which suits unpublished drafts.
How accurate is the score?
The formulas are the standard Flesch ones. Syllable counting in English is a well-known estimate, so treat the score as a reliable guide rather than an exact measurement.
Limits
English only — the formulas assume English syllable structure. Code, tables and headings are counted as text.
