FAQ
How do I find personal data (PII) in text for free?
Paste the text and this page flags emails, Indian phone numbers, PAN, Aadhaar-shaped and card-like numbers — matched on your device, with no upload, and masked in the results. Use it to catch PII before sending a dataset or a log.
Is my text uploaded?
No — detection runs entirely in your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored, which matters because the whole point is finding sensitive data. Turn off your Wi-Fi and it still works.
Does it detect Indian identifiers?
Yes — it recognises PAN (5 letters, 4 digits, 1 letter), Aadhaar-shaped 12-digit numbers and Indian mobile numbers, alongside emails and card-like numbers.
Are there false positives?
Yes — a 12-digit number is flagged as Aadhaar-shaped whether or not it is one, and any 16-digit run looks card-like. Review matches; the tool is a safety net, not a judge.
Limits
Pattern-based, so both false positives and misses are possible. It flags shapes, not confirmed PII.
